Reality, by Tom Mukasa
Reality
Not all of us fall on the ground,
simply because,
we are already down,
not all of us are hungry,
and heavily burdened,
simply because,
we are fed and filled,
face of reality,
a visage,
stretching our diversity,
and ear to ear smile,
only recoiling,
when haggard,
eyes dance,
in their sockets,
a tongue wipes,
burning lips,
the brow,
furrowed in lines,
even this is reality,
a puzzle upon itself,
lying in wait,
hard to come to terms with,
if there are terms at all,
be content,
if all you have is a foot hold.
