Windsock, the palm-tree by Tom Mukasa

Windsock, the palm-tree

A palm-tree on a high point ,
was named Windsock,
it can tell you of things past,
of months and years gone,
companionship when you are alone,
it told me something I didn't know,
with fronds held upright in pride,
it showed me how,
it  stands storms and gales,
I wanted to know,
about the winds,
to the palm-tree I went,
for tips,
I saw it bow and bend,
this way and that,
a stoop and tip,
for to work with the winds,
is not a simple task,
the palm-tree remains,
even when am gone,
to become the very winds that blow.
