Thomas Rogers Muyunga Mukasa's testimony: I walk into 2015's welcoming hands. God is Great, Amen!

The year had shared its first two weeks with us here in San Francisco. I needed to go out and do some errands down town. These errands would open the door for me to be of greater service to myself, community, USA and the world.

So, with everything I needed to do at home finished; my kitchen cleaned, my bed made (with corners folded the boarding school style), my bathroom scrubbed clean and everything neat, I reached for the front door. I opened it and let myself out. The coolness of the morning hit my face and the thick fog rolled in "Thriller-like" miasmic waves. Yes, the MJ Thriller video for many of you who are familiar with it. The fog was clearing, as if a clarion call was sounded and a hasty retreat had to be done.

My white, green and gold balloons in the umbrella canister that a week ago floated in air had sunk to the floor except the gold one. They were my New Year gifts from friends. They still stand (or sit like centaurs) at my door. The wall picture I had won after we had a lottery is hanging on the hall-way wall.

I took the steps, polished in a brown Terrazzo. An Easterly wind blew as predicted. The sun came out with a ferocity and the hot reflection from the Pacific drove away the fog that was only minutes ago hugging the tarmacked ground and built structures.

I reached my gate, had it opened and let myself out. I then closed it and walked up hill to where I waited for the bus that arrived in the next 3 minutes. Good timing.

I went to the Human Services office and had all my documents in order. I learnt so much during the 5 hours I was going through the processing. From booking, counselling, through to addressing my particular issues. I am so grateful. This is governance, this is having systems that work. This is testing the systems and benefiting from service provision.

I am a believer and know that all this is the work of the Lord. I was like Moses and Joseph (Israelites), who were witnesses and beneficiaries of a long standing powerful government of the Egyptian empire. They went through personal experiences and later were able to gain empowerment to be of service. A greater service.

I am now in position to seek empowerment and the best training USA can offer. One day,I wish to tell my stories with examples. There is a God that lives. A God who is caring.  One day,I shall confidently look back at these first weeks or months of 2015 and say, GOD IS GREAT. Amen! I am destined to be dignified, solvent, rich, useful, great and exemplary.
